Here is a brief overview of some of the games that I have produced within the past 12 months. These games have all been produced either as classwork, personal passion projects, through the Gen Games RSO, or with GG Studio.
My focus throughout the past year, as well as what I intend to focus on in the coming year is mastering the development process. With both my range of development and the efficiency of development time dramatically improving.
I graduated from Illinois State University with an English Studies degree, concentrating in Technical Writing before starting my career in game development as an aspiring narrative designer. During my time in college though, I joined the advanced projects division of IT as a technical writer, where I learned the basic in and outs of code early in my career. I picked up a knack for coding and became a front-web developer at the end of my first year working with CAS IT, and by the end of my second year, I became a lead student back-end developer for server-side operations. My real passion though lies in game development still, and I have worked on multiple individual game projects before founding Gen Games, my senior year in college.
Gen Games, a video game development RSO with Illinois State University, was geared towards giving undergraduates the chance to develop games and gain the platform to both learn and practice everything from game code and systems to narrative design. In February of 2020, Gen Games released their first Game, The Tenebris Voyager, to itch.io as well as hosted a game jam at the local games expo for student developers. After graduating, I began working with a number of Gen Games students who recently graduated to produce a separate private studio where we could continue our development work professionally.
I am now attending graduate school, studying Procedural Generation, AI systems, and Games & Society as well as continuing my work with the newly dubbed GG Studio and at CAS IT as a lead back-end web developer.
